Laguna Verde sits at 14,500' above sea level, below the 20,000' Llicancabur Volcano deep in the Sud Lipez region of southwestern Bolivia. The green color of the water comes from the natural leaching of minerals (like arsenic) from the surrounding mineral-laden peaks of the Andes mountains.
